Editor's review
LOB or large objects data structure in Oracle helps manage large unstructured data like video, audio, images etc. This software provides a means to edit directly such LOB data stored in a data base.
Oracle has for many years supported storing large objects, unstructured data, by using the LONG and LONG RAW datatypes. Oracle introduced LOBs to support the growing demand for storing video, audio, photo, images, etc within the database. The LOB datatypes allow you to store up to 4 Gigabytes of data. As LONG and LONG RAW will likely be removed in future releases it is better to use this newer data type for future compatibility. OraLobEditor helps DBAs and Database Programmers edit Oracle LOB (BLOB, CLOB) data directly. Typically one would need to get data out to a file, an external editor to view and/or edit the file. If you did make any changes you then export the modified data file back into the database. This software will not need you to break the workflow but work continuously of such data items easily. It can directly import/export Oracle data.
The interface is straightforward. You are able to batch import/export of LOB data and use this one editor for all kinds of data formats such as TXT, RTF or Image, hex, HTML etc. As for images too it can handle a large range of image formats such as JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG, TIFF etc. It is possible to call external programs for more sophisticated editing. The editor provides a hexadecimal mode when the nature of the data may be unknown. The batch import/export of data feature could be useful with backup and restore of such large multimedia data too. The settings can be saved and reused when same processing is needed in future. Nice tool for handling multimedia data in Oracle.
